E-mail Server Settings for Advanced Users of 3rd Party E-mail Programs


Here are the settings that I use for each free e-mail provider


  About.me Web Mail   

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com    Server Port 993   Encryption Connection Type: SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.aol.com   Server Port 587   Encryption Connection Type:  TLS

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name, except AOL & AIM Screen Names

You can also find the official mail settings by logging into the AOL web mail portal and then clicking on "options"
and then selecting "mail settings" and then selecting "IMAP and POP."

Sent Items are not automatically saved in sent items folder.


Gmail

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imap.gmail.com    Server Port 993  Encryption Connection Type: SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.gmail.com     Server Port 587  Encryption Connection Type:  TLS

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Alternate Settings - googlemail.com

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imap.googlemail.com    Server Port 993  Encryption Connection Type: SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.googlemail.com     Server Port 587  Encryption Connection Type:  TLS

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Sent Items are automatically saved in the Sent Items folder.


Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imappro.zoho.com    Server Port 993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.zoho.com    Server Port 587  Encryption Connection Type:  TLS

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Note: Free users can use the following settings to access their account via 3rd party e-mail programs. Yahoo has established several mail servers to handle each the load from both several 3rd party e-mail programs and from the 4 Internet Service Providers that contact with Yahoo to provide e-mail for their subscribers. I have tried to list all known ones here that can be universally used across all platforms.

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imap.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Settings for paid AT&T users.

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imap.mail.att.net  Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.mail.att.net  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Note:  Free ATT.net users must use the following for the Outgoing Mail Server. Doing so shows AT&T in
the mail headings. Using the other Outgoing Mail Servers will show Yahoo's instead.

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Settings for the Windows 8 mail app.

Incoming Mail Server:  winmetro.imap.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  winmetro.smtp.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

 

Settings for the Windows 10 mail app.

Incoming Mail Server:  winmo.imap.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  winmo.smtp.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

 

Settings for Android Smart Phones

Incoming Mail Server:  android.imap.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com  Server Port 465  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Settings for Intuit's Quickbooks

Outgoing Mail Server:  intuit.smtp.mail.yahoo.com    Server Port   993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Must use your full e-mail address as the user name

Comcast Xfinity Connect Web Mail

Option 1 - Access via IMAP

Server Type:  IMAP

Incoming Mail Server:  imap.comcast.net  Server Port 993  Encryption Connection Type:  SSL

Outgoing Mail Server:  smtp.comcast.net  Server Port 587  Encryption Connection Type:  TLS

Outgoing Mail Server requires Authentication

Use only your Username as the login ID and not the full @comcast.net part

Option 2 - Download the Xfinity Connect Add On tool for MS Outlook

Note: I have found that this tool works better if you only have one e-mail account configured in MS Outlook. If you have more then one e-mail account, I do not recommend that you use this add on.
